People wonder why when it is cloudy and rain threatens – I get a strong urge to take a photowalk. Why not when it is sunny and bright? For me, the color and intensity in these photos should be enough reason. It is a point of view that is very hard to capture under other circumstances.

The name of the “Beautiful Insomnia…” piece comes from a fragment of the words written to the left of the door in that photo. The words have been partially painted out, so I have to guess what they were trying to say, but this is close enough.

I was floored by “Lady Monarca.” It is signed by Juan Fuerte. In the middle of a jumble of posters and a ruined building, it is a vision I couldn’t resist. The monarchs almost fly out of the piece. Beautiful. The two pieces are contextual homages to his work.

Of course, none of these are meant to be literal. They are stylized, artistic representations. Some people have asked me, “What ‘filters‘ do you use?” – expecting I use something like Instagram filters to produce these. Honestly, these are a time consuming bit of work from several techniques and not filters or presets. I love doing them and there are many more from this walk to come. Poco a poco amigos.
