This was a great evening of music and a lot of fun to shoot. There’s an equal number of photos (edited and waiting) for tomorrow and that is being tight with what I want to work on. There are many little, incremental changes in my style and there will be more in the coming weeks as I add one more new tool to my editing suite. But the story about that needs to wait until I can actually put it to work.

The biggest change right now is I have an “exhibition” printer – for formal prints. I tried for a long time to make a scenario work using local print labs but in the end – it just wasn’t a good idea. It wasn’t a process or equipment I could control and the results went from bad to acceptable, but rarely better than that. There are print labs with equal or better quality in Guadalajara and Mexico City, but that leads to a situation where – after I send my files and get my prints, if I don’t like them – what can I do? It’s not like I am standing in front of the counter at the lab when they do a print so I can tell them what I need changed… And there are a few wedding photographers locally who have good printers they use for their portrait prints – but for everything else, they go to the local labs like I did. They are, and have to be, in the volume photo business to make enough money. It is a different model.

So – more to come tomorrow and more things to say, but for now – enjoy.
