As members of the select group that actually looks at all the photos and reads what I write, I want to tell you something that I decided today. In the midst of editing this set, I got an inspiration and a new part of the Retratos series was started.

It is called Pájaros Nocturnos – Night Birds. It will be a series of photos from photowalks and events in the night here in Mexico. It has been something I have wanted to do for a long time and I already have many photos that qualify. If you wonder where the name comes from, yes, it is inspired by Nighthawks, the iconic noir-style painting by Edward Hopper, who has always been an inspiration for me. There is at least one photo in this set that I have decided is part of the Pájaros Nocturnos set – “Face in the Flowers.” It was in fact, the photo that told me there was something I had to work on there. I hope to have an exhibit for Retratos – Pájaros Nocturnos sometime next year.

This set is from Cucuchucho and it was for me one of the most interesting places we went that night. The celebration in this pueblo is a very rural, family-oriented event in that feels very natural. I was very glad I could see this one. It has been a hard set to work on because there is so much emotion in these for me and I wanted very much to portray it properly. I hope you can feel some of what I feel from them.

One more in this set. Onward.
