This picture is certainly not perfect. The plane of focus is too narrow; it really only covers the center of the flower. It is a bit fringed.
But then there is that star – and the contrast against the background of metal and foliage – and the color. Step away from it a bit. Get away from the screen and see it from four feet. It becomes a different picture. Detail appears that you can’t see up close. Perspective makes all the difference.
Sometimes you do the best you can with what you are given – and go with it.
And what do you give the person who bore you and gave you life?
How do you celebrate her when you can’t hold her hand, look into her eyes, and thank her for everything you are and still could be?
You go with what you have and give it your best.
Happy Birthday to My Mother.
Thank you for what you gave me.
