Frankly, this is a redo of an interpretation from many months ago. At the time, I didn’t have as much command over my post processing tools as I do now. Of course this is an abstraction. It is as much photographic jazz as the music my friend Juan Carlos Cortez is producing in this recorded moment. I love to capture movement but without freezing it. I want to capture more than just a moment in time – which in this case is 1/15 of a second. We never see this – we can’t see this without the aid of a camera. Our brains stitch a bunch of captures together in real time to make us understand what we see in context. But, if you could hold an image to collect over just 1/15 of a second, pull out the color and this is what you would see. It is a ballet of light, flesh, sound and metal – we call the blues.
