So – today we return to Plaza Morelos and the Oaxacan market across the street. It is a temporary affair, but we are used to that. Local markets, tianguis, and events appear all over town – they are part of life in Mexico. Some have a schedule, some (like this one) just appear and disappear. I didn’t stop to try anything. I really wanted to try Annabal Gourmet and I didn’t want to spoil my appetite. I’m glad, Annabal was worth the wait.
These photos are all tone-mapped singles, showing a range of styles. The statue on the plaza is the most “processed,” but the others use the technique as a way to open up shadows and colors. I use the technique in different ways depending on the subject. In the case of the statue in the plaza, it just felt right to make it more of an art piece and less of a documentary approach. It’s a choice.
Tomorrow, we will return to photos from the Bosque.
