Before I get to the announcement that is the main reason for this post, let me tell you a little about this beautiful exposition. This is a show of block prints from 31 young artists that were developed over a year of work in the area of Patzcuaro, Michoacan. It is a stunning amount of new work that the group put together while learning the technique and how to express themselves with it. It is a wonderful exposition and I encourage you to see it here in Morelia if you can.
But that said, let’s get to the announcement. Last week I went to MACAZ with Erick Legaria to see the director and show her some of my work. The outcome of the meeting is an exhibition to be mounted September through October at the museum in three salas with between 60 and 70 prints focused on the series of photos I’ve done on jazz and jazz musicians here in Morelia.
Needless to say, this is a huge show for a single artist and I am very pleased to have the opportunity. It is also a lot of work but I am happy to do it. There is a lot more to tell about this story, but for now – I just want everyone to know and that over the time between now and the exhibition, I will be posting some photos and progress reports about the development of the show as it goes along. There will be announcements, invitations and all of the usual things that go along with a show of this scale, but for now – I just want people to know I am going to be very busy working on the catalog, prints and logistics required. There is an opportunity for this to become a traveling exhibition so there is more to it than just this single show.
