To say this is a difficult set to edit is a bit of an understatement. Iraida is an artist I have admired for many years and I am very happy to have both seen her in performance and to have met her personally afterwards. Tavo is an artist that I admire very much and know from several performances and conversations. I shot about 200 images, of which I had 60 “suspects” after the first pass of the proof set. That is a very high percentage. I discarded another 5 or so during the first half of the edit or what I think is the first half of the edit. Long story short, there are a lot more photos to consider and I will have more tomorrow.
Because of my admiration of both of these artists, I am a little apprehensive about some of the photos in the set. They aren’t classical portraits, especially ones like “The Imp Inside,” but they are close views inside the personalities of both individuals. They both do a lot of work with a wide range of musicians and I know they are widely admired and appreciated. They should be. So, take my work as it is and understand – it comes from the heart.
