It’s been more than a year since my last posting and I apologize. There comes a time when, for a while at least, when you run out of magic dust. That situation has been me for too long. Am I back? Hmmm. Hard to know but it feels like it. I hope so.
This concert was last Friday – and billed as the last for Chris for a while at least. He’s going to Chicago for a few months, be with family and see the scene there. I’ve watched him for many years and he’s a good friend – I hope to see him back on stage at Amati before the end of the year.
One of the things that got my juices going again are some new features in my main photo editing system, Adobe Lightroom. The main difference you can notice about this group of photos is the lack of noise you usually see in low light images and the amount of retained detail. I used a new AI aided denoise feature that seems to really work well. It makes the dark, contrasty stage in a jazz club look quite well lit. In a couple of places I also used AI-aided masking to darken the background in relation to the subject in some cases. It saved a lot of time and headaches…
