This was a great night of fusion jazz. Christian is Fernando’s brother. He left Morelia ten years ago to pursue his career in New York and has been back to visit every few years. Speaking to him afterward, he said he was amazed at the crowd. He plays a regular show every week in New York and doesn’t pull this many fans. It is a shame for sure. The crowd was very enthusiastic and rightfully so. Given, this is his hometown and there were a lot of family and friends. Even so, attention was rapt, honest and heartfelt.

I’ve been sick for the past two weeks with a cold/flu (which is which? Does it matter?). This weekend is the first time I have been clearly past it, although my voice is still very gravelly. I am grateful it is at an end.

As I have mentioned before, these photos are all tone-mapped singles. It has become clear it has become a style I will continue with. I need to spend more time now on black and white and will be doing more in the coming months. There was a point last year where I made a clean break between being mostly a documentary photographer and pushed myself into self-expression and artistic photography. That is where I will continue to go.
